Traditional Chinese
Medicine is one of the great medical systems in the world and dates back
more than 2,500 years. Acupuncture, Herbal medicine exercise (Tai Chi,
Qigong) and dietary medicine all from part of the traditional Chinese
medical system and share a common theory. Of these disciplines
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine have always been considered
pre-eminent.
TCM diagnosis differs
from orthodox diagnosis in that the examination of the pulse and tongue
forms a major aspect of it.

Both these systems are
extensively used for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases at
Hospitals and Clinics in China.
Throughout its long
history, experience has added to its great wealth of knowledge, whilst
more recently, research has added more evidence of its Clinical
effectiveness resulting in a powerful yet subtle system of medicine.
The aim of all treatment
is to relieve its distressing symptoms, ensuring that whenever possible
a fundamental cure is achieved.
Herbal medicine uses
several hundred substances mainly of plant origin (plants, roots, barks
and flowers) as well as some mineral substances. These are combined into
prescriptions and finely adjusted to match the patient’s precise
condition.
Herbs we use are given in
powder form for convenience. On occasions for very obstinate cases
raw herbs are given to be boiled up into a decoction.
